Although currently based out of Orlando, Gary Lazer Eyes is comprised of four Melbourne, FL natives. Founded in 2015, in their short band life Gary Lazer Eyes has grown in sound, and in reach. After being voted Orlando’s “Best Rock Act” in Best of Orlando 2016, they released High On Lies. On this EP, they seem to explore a more alternative territory, while still managing to reflect their reggae & blues rock roots. Sun drenched vibes meet the dark and chaotic atmosphere of a dive bar, and one might find themselves confused by the sensation of one foot being immersed in wet-sand while the other feels like their Vans are sticking to a whiskey-stained concrete floor.
To support the release of this eclectic project, Gary Lazer Eyes embarked on their first national tour. Upon returning home, they played a few “welcome back to Florida” shows, receiving a warm reception (literally- Florida boys should stay in FL during the winter) from the Central FL community.
For Gary Lazer Eyes, community is an essential part of their journey. The foursome solidified while collaborating on Do-It-Yourself events featuring live music, local visual artists, and fashion vendors/brands. It was out of these collaborations that GLE was born. Leaning on the idea that music is an interdependent relationship (i.e. a song is not done until some one else hears it), the goal of their musical endeavors is not simply to create, but to connect with the people around them. Whether that means playing at a local business’s grand opening, or for a fundraiser, Gary Lazer Eyes is drawn to these opportunities. For this band, making money is not a motive as much as it is a means to an end. That end, obviously, is to keep playing music.
“It’s more than refreshing to see a group of people courageous enough to make their passions into a lifelong career. Their combination of raw musical abilities and work ethic make an unbridled groove-rock sound that gives this band longevity in Florida and beyond.”
–Shows I Go To
“On “Galapagos,” the boys strip away the majority of the reggae and ska influences that peppered their December 2015 EP, Black and White. However, they haven’t lost the sun-soaked feelings those genres produce, as this new song is still summer baked, albeit in a new way.”

“This quartet from the Melbourne/Orlando area was my favorite new discovery. Their unique approach to rock music boasts a heavy reggae vibe that’s just a blast to listen and move to.”
